Melanie Wells

Love guides everything I do in life. It is the most exquisite experience of our human existence, it's true that the only remedy for love is to love more!

I am a member of our LGBTQIA+ community.

My main gig in life has been working in seabird research, and now I am marrying people on the side while working on a PhD.

My two mottos in life are don't fight what feels right and live with an attitude of gratitude.

Besides my love of love and desire to be surrounded by loved up couples, my motivation behind becoming a registered marriage celebrant is to be a channel for stepping away from impersonal wedding ceremonies. My job is to legally validate marriages under the Australian Marriage Act 1961. As long as the legal boxes are ticked you can do whatever you want in your ceremony. The love shared between a couple is unique, and their celebration should reflect that.

I have lived in Vic, NSW and Tas. Currently living in Hobart, but very happy and flexible with travel.

When I am not doing a PhD or celebranting, I am either overnight hiking in Tassie's wilderness, running, bird watching, op shopping, applying glitter to my face, swimming, cooking, making espresso martinis for my friends or learning to sew!

My Values

I am a frugal hedonistic vegan.
I value social equality & fairness.
I value being an ethical consumer.
I value the sustainability of our planet and live a minimal impact, minimal waste lifestyle.
I also value the pleasure of indulging in the best things in life like good food & good company.
